Disney Cruise Report by Agent Sydney Scott

Castaway Cay , Disney Cruise , Small World Vacations Agent Education

On September 8, 2010 I participated in a 4 night/5 day Disney Cruise Line Agent Education Program which included a 3-night cruise aboard the Disney Wonder!   On the first day we arrived at Walt Disney World and toured some value, moderate and deluxe resorts.  We had dinner at Epcot and stayed to watch Illuminations, one of my favorite nighttime events at Walt Disney World!

Early the next morning it was breakfast at Cape May Café at Disney’s Beach Club Resort.   Here my favorite character, Donald Duck, stopped by to say hello and have his photo taken with me!  Minnie Mouse and Goofy came by to say hello, too!

When we arrived at Port Canaveral (via DCL bus ground transfers), we boarded the Disney Wonder and went on a ship tour.  We viewed the various category staterooms, restaurants, lounges, pools, children’s program and activity areas, and spa.   At 4:15pm the Adventures Away Celebration party began.  What a great way to get everyone ready to set sail!   Mickey and the gang came out to dance with the party guests, and by 5:00pm we were on our way to the sunny Bahamas!

That evening my fellow Small World Vacations agents and I dined at the adult only restaurant, Palo.  Wow, it was wonderful!   Disney Cruise Line has many areas onboard their ships that are reserved for guests over the age of 18.   On the Disney Wonder there is the Quiet Cove Pool  where adults can go to relax.   There is also the Cove Café where guests can enjoy a warm or cold beverage, and if need be, check their email.  If pampering is in order, adults can enjoy the Vista Spa.  I chose to use some of my down time during  my training to try out the Vista Spa.  I enjoyed my treatments and then spent time in the tranquil Rain Forest Room.  This room has multiple saunas, and aromatherapy to really get you in the perfect relaxed vacation mode!  While the adults are enjoying the spa, children can enjoy all of the wonderful kids’ areas.  They take up almost an entire half deck!  Here Disney Youth Counselors entertain the younger Disney Cruise Line guests, while moms and dads have some time alone to relax.

I enjoyed three wonderful shows in the Walt Disney Theatre.   Toy Story the Musical, the Golden Mickey’s and Disney Dreams: an Enchanted Classic were all spectacular.    I was very impressed.  I was equally impressed with the  Pirates IN the Caribbean deck party on the second night of the cruise during which guests joined in the fun by dressing in pirate attire.   I wore my Mickey pirate hat of course!  The party concluded with fireworks at sea!  A treat only offered by Disney Cruise. I am pictured here with Small World Vacations agent, Alice Karberg.

Our second day was spent in Nassau, Bahamas, a colorful island experience. On the third day, we explored Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay.   Words cannot describe how amazing this island is.   There are multiple beaches,  including a family beach, a teen beach and an adult exclusive beach called Serenity Bay.  Kids can have an amazing time at the children’s program area called Scuttle’s Cove, or take a water slide ride into the Caribbean at Pelican Plunge.  I took the plunge myself!  There are a variety of shore excursions available on the island including parasailing, jet skiing and snorkeling.

The next day I took Disney transportation back to the Orlando International Airport and flew home to Massachusetts.  Although the air is crisp back here in New England, I am warmed with all the wonderful memories and experiences I had on my Disney cruise.
