Agent Blog: Nat Geo Day Tour in Cozumel, Mexico on the Disney Treasure

Did you know at select ports of call with Disney Cruise Line, you can select a Nat Geo Day Tour for your port adventure? In Cozumel, Mexico we decided to try the new Nat Geo Day Tour during our recent Disney Treasure sailing. Welcome to Eco Explorers Mrs. Martha’s Bee Farm adventure.

For this port adventure, we were pleasantly surprised from the beginning to have a small group of 10, wonderfully clean transportation and knowledgeable guide as we headed off to the Bee Farm.

Mrs. Martha’s Bee Farm we learned was originally designated to protect bees native to the area that were so important to the land.  The group was quickly greeted by our guide for the day as we headed off on the property to explore the different learning stations.  Our tour guide was so knowledgeable, hospitable, and genuine as she shared information at the different stations.

First station, making chocolate from scratch.  Our group split into smaller groups and were taught how to use the tools to grind plus sweeten with honey!

In our next stop, we found a tall vanilla plant growing as we started to better understand how vital the bees were to the vanilla plant and production.  After tasting real vanilla, there’s no turning back!

‘Are you ready to taste different types of honey made right at Mrs. Martha’s Bee Farm?  From traditional honey to special food for the Queen Bee to infused honey used for various applications including natural healing, we tried them all!

Off to salsa! Our learning continued to different chili peppers as we had an opportunity to make and try our own salsa. Honey, chocolate, vanilla, and now salsa, what else could be in store?

Tamales!  Homemade by Mrs. Martha at our last stop we enjoyed the most delicious tamales with our tour guide and Mrs. Martha.  The perfect end to an amazing time in Cozumel.  Can’t wait to find our next Nat Geo Day Tour experience.  Will absolutely return to Mrs. Martha’s Bee Farm next time we sail the beautiful Disney Treasure to the Western Caribbean.
