ANAHEIM, Calif. – Disneyland Resort strives to create a culture of inclusion, so guests and cast members feel seen through attractions, entertainment, food, holidays and the celebration of annual heritage months. Throughout the year, guests of all ages are invited to celebrate the powerful stories, rich history and vibrant songs of Black heritage with a variety of uplifting experiences. The exciting slate of activities expands with additional, limited-time offerings in February for Black History Month and in June for Black Music Month.

Limited-time offerings in February 2024 for Black History Month

  • “Celebrate Gospel” returns to the Fantasyland Theatre at Disneyland Park for two days, headlined by Marvin Sapp on Feb. 17 and Tasha Cobbs Leonard on Feb. 24. On both days, the beloved annual event brings together award-winning musical artists and community choirs from across Southern California. 
  • A window display in Hollywood Land at Disney California Adventure Park honors Disney Legend Floyd Norman, Walt Disney Animation Studios’ first Black animator. 
  • On select days, Downtown Disney District features crafts inspired by Los Angeles architecture. A recently debuted sculptural tower in the district, designed by Nikkolas Smith, pays tribute to pioneering architects of color in Southern California during the mid-20th century. 
  • The newly opened Downtown Disney LIVE! Stage and lawn will present live family entertainment on select days and musical performances on select events. Scheduled acts include magician Kenrick Ice McDonald, UniverSoul Hip Hop Show, Apollo BeBop, Forward Motion Band and others. 
  • Select dining locations offer limited-time menu items, such as the fried chicken bowl and sweet potato pie casserole from Troubadour Tavern.

Celebrating Black culture throughout the year at Disneyland Resort

  • The Main Street Opera House at Disneyland Park presents a special tribute honoring the relationship between Frederick Douglass and Abraham Lincoln. Narrated by Robin Roberts, a video presentation produced in collaboration with National Geographic recognizes how Frederick Douglass and Abraham Lincoln worked together in the fight against slavery. 
  • At Fantasyland in Disneyland Park, guests may encounter Asha from Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “Wish.” Plus, Ariel from the live-action story “The Little Mermaid” makes special appearances along the promenade near “it’s a small world.
  • Guests may find Princess Tiana from Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “The Princess and the Frog” walking through New Orleans Square at Disneyland Park at various times of the day. The Tiana’s Palace quick-service restaurant and Eudora’s Chic Boutique Featuring Tiana’s Gourmet Secrets retail shop surround guests with fixtures and references to her story. 
  • In the evenings, Queenie and the Jambalaya Jazz Band perform popular, high-energy New Orleans tunes and Disney fan favorites, and musical call-and-response interactions on the Rivers of America at Disneyland Park. 
  • The best band on Buena Vista Street, Five & Dime, delivers pizzazz and razzmatazz to Disney California Adventure Park. Female vocalist Dime and her accompanying jazz quintet perform hits of the 1920s and 1930s. 

  • At Avengers Campus in Disney California Adventure Park, guests may cross paths with Black Panther, train with Black Panther’s loyal bodyguards in “The Warriors of Wakanda: The Disciplines of the Dora Milaje” or encounter Sam Wilson – Captain America. 
  • For a limited time beginning in February at Disney California Adventure Park, guests can meet Moon Girl from the Disney series “Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur” in Hollywood Land and Captain Monica Rambeau in Avengers Campus.

 

Soulful food and beverage selections available all year long

  • The menu at Tiana’s Palace in Disneyland Park is inspired by New Orleans classics, with rotating seasonal flavors and using select ingredients sourced directly from Louisiana when possible.  
  • Located next to Fantasyland Theatre at Disneyland Park, the Troubadour Tavern quick-service stand offers a selection of African-inspired snacks and tasty bites. 
  • The reimagined Jazz Kitchen Coastal Grill & Patio at the Downtown Disney District fusing its authentic New Orleans roots with its adopted California influences.
