Life’s a Beach at Disney’s Beach & Yacht Club Resorts

Located in the Epcot/BoardWalk area of Walt Disney World, Disneys Beach Club Resort and its neighboring sister resort, Disney’s Yacht Club Resort, evoke memories of historic seaside resort towns. Although they share many amenities, including the popular pool Stormalong Bay, each resort has its own distinct personality.

Disney’s Beach Club Resort is reminiscent of an early 20th century Atlantic seaside resort. From the moment you arrive, the nautical theme is evident in the ocean-blue shingle exterior and arching whitewashed trim. In the airy and bright lobby, the décor suggests casual charm with a beachy color pallet of peach, sea foam green, white and teal. The intricate beams overhead, warm chandeliers adorning the walls, and beautiful hardwood floors create a peaceful and calming atmosphere. Step inside and feel yourself instantly relax as your vacation officially begins!

Next door, Disneys Yacht Club offers a more sophisticated elegance to a New England nautical theme. Featuring polished brass, dark hardwood floors and leather chairs. The décor is formal and refined. The serene lobby sets the tone with antique globes, ship wheels, patriotic icons and sailor’s ropes. The maritime color palette is rich in deep tones including navy, burgundy, red and gold. In comparison to Disneys Beach Club, the décor at the Yacht Club has a more masculine and mature tone.

Location, location, location! One of the best advantages of these sister resorts is their ideal location along Crescent Lake in the BoardWalk section of Walt Disney World. Disney’s BoardWalk is a beachfront promenade of dining, shopping and nightlife. In addition to the recreation and dining located at Disney’s Beach and Yacht Clubs Resort, the BoardWalk offers even more options right outside your door, including live performers and nightly entertainment. Stroll along the water’s edge, feel the cool evening breeze, marvel in the lights, music, laughter and excitement at Disneys BoardWalk. There are also three other resorts along Crescent Lake and within walking distance — Disney’s BoardWalk Inn, and the Swan and Dolphin Hotels.

The Beach Club and Yacht Club are within walking distance to both Epcot and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. After you finish a scrumptious dinner at your favorite World Showcase restaurant in Epcot, you can leisurely stroll back to your resort in about 7-10 minutes. And at the end of the evening at Hollywood Studios, you can walk right on past the long bus line. In just 15-20 minutes, you’ll be back in your room and tucked into bed. You can also take a quick boat ride to either theme park — the ferry dock is right outside of Disneys Yacht Club. Of course, bus service is also available to Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Disney Springs and the water parks. Skyliner is available from the Epcot International Gate Way to Hollywood Studios, Disney’s Riviera, Disney’s Caribbean Beach, Disney’s Art of Animation and Disney’s Pop Century. (Transfer needed as certain stops.)

Disney’s Beach Club and Yacht Club are both Deluxe Resorts, consisting of interior hallways and spacious guests’ rooms. The 580 guest rooms are housed in five stories with a main building and several wings protruding out toward Crescent Lake. Both resorts offer similar accommodations – most standard guest rooms are approximately 380 square feet and have two queen beds, some with additional daybeds (king beds are available in select rooms by request). Rooms accommodate 5 guests, plus one child under age 3 in a crib. There are three different view types: Standard View, Garden/Woods View and Water View (pricing varies). Concierge level rooms, offering access to the club lounge, and suites are also available.

If you are looking for more spacious accommodations for extended family, you might consider Disney’s Beach Club Villas. Adjacent to the resort, the Villas offer larger accommodations with more amenities. Beautifully appointed Deluxe Studios and one- or two-bedroom villas offer living space, dining areas, full kitchens, and washer and dryers – all the comforts of home. There is also a pool room, quiet pool, whirlpool tub and charcoal grills for use by the Villa guests.

The quaint seaside theming carries over into the hallways and guests’ rooms, with subtle nautical nods present in the artwork, décor and furnishings.

The Yacht and Beach Club Resorts at Walt Disney World share an array of amenities including a fitness club, hair salon, full-service marina with motorized boat rentals and fishing excursions, bike rentals, arcade, tennis and volley ball courts, and jogging trails. Take advantage of the location and get out for some fun on the water! When the sun sets, campfire s’mores and movies under the stars set the stage for cherished family memories. And just a short walk around the lake adjacent to the Dolphin and Swan Hotel, Fantasia Gardens and Fairways Miniature Golf is a great place for family fun.

One of the most popular pools on Disney property, Stormalong Bay is a destination in itself. This sprawling swimming complex shared by both resorts is flanked by a stately gray windmill, and has several unique features that guests love. The life-size shipwreck is actually the entrance to the thrilling waterslide. Coast high overhead through an enclosed tunnel and then splash into the refreshing water below. For littler tykes, a smaller slide and water play area is available. Last, but certainly not least, this waterpark atmosphere also features a sand bottom lazy river, where adults and kids alike can float for hours. A smaller quiet pool is located at the other end of the resort, closest to Epcot. You could devote an entire day (or two?) to hanging at the pool!

After a long day of splashing and lounging around, there’s no doubt everyone will be ready for a good meal. Good news… there are plenty of options to suit everyone’s taste buds.

If you can’t drag the family away from the pool, stop by Hurricane Hanna’s Waterside Bar and Grill located poolside at Stormalong Bay. This quick service spot offers yummy bites to take back to your lounge chairs. Nosh on Greek salads, seafood rolls and turkey sandwiches. Or cool off with a frozen drink or lava smoothie.

Start your day with the hearty all-you-care-to-eat “Minnie’s Beach Bash Breakfast” at Cape May Cafe at the Beach Club with Minnie and friends! The beach-themed, casual venue also offers a New England themed dinner menu (characters do not appear at dinner). The Seafood Boil features a variety of fresh seafood, including shrimp and clams and the Turf Platter features steak and chicken. Also on the menu are in-house baked parker rolls and corn bread, seasonal harvest salad and assorted House-Made Desserts.

The Beaches and Cream Soda Shop is a 1950’s style ice cream parlor where “every day is sundae!” Lunch and dinner menus feature comfort foods such as burgers, grilled cheese, chicken fingers and chili-cheese tots. And of course, dessert is the main course here. The legendary “Kitchen Sink” dessert is a bucket list item — 8 scoops of ice cream with every single topping. The perfect way to end a fun-filled day at Disney.

The Beach Club Marketplace is the Quick Service spot, where you can pick up Mickey waffles or a breakfast sandwich before heading out for the day. For lunch, enjoy hot entrees such as Paninis, Mac and cheese and salads. All day, grab-and-go items are available, along with groceries, snacks, sundries and souvenirs, clothing and kitchen items.

At the Yacht Club, the Ale & Compass Restaurant offers a coastal-inspired menu including classic seafood dishes. This lighthouse-themed space also has an adjacent lounge, for a pre-dinner cocktail and a market where you can pick up grabs and go items for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The Market at Ale & Compass offers hot and cold quick service all day, along with snacks, beverages and conveniences.

The Yachtsman Steakhouse is a top notch, signature restaurant featuring premium cuts of meat, fresh seafood and scrumptious salads in an elegant setting with knotty pine beams and upscale, nautical décor.

The Crew’s Cup Lounge, attached to the Yachtsman Steakhouse, is great spot to continue the evening fun with an adult beverage and pub food and snacks. It’s a hidden gem.

It’s no wonder that year after year, Disney’s Beach Club and Yacht Club are favorite locations for guests of all ages. The beautiful waterfront views, limitless dining, variety of recreational activities and easy access to the parks makes them an ideal setting for a magical Disney Vacation.
