Celebrate Christmas on a Very Merrytime Cruise!

The holiday season is filled with traditions and special moments with loved ones and Disney Cruise Line brings all of that magic to life at sea with its Very Merrytime Cruises.

Twinkling Christmas trees, shimmering garlands and enchanting gingerbread displays capture the spirit of the season. Holiday music fills the air, Disney characters appear in their seasonal attire and family-friendly activities like cookie decorating, tree-lighting celebrations and storytime with Mrs. Claus create memories straight out of a holiday storybook.

What makes a Very Merrytime Cruise so special is the unique blend of holiday charm and tropical escape. Spend your days enjoying sunny island adventures and then return to the ship for merry entertainment, seasonal treats and magical snowfall celebrations. It’s a holiday getaway that combines the best of both worlds – beloved traditions and an unforgettable vacation experience – all wrapped up in Disney Magic.

Very Merrytime itineraries vary from 3 to 7 nights and are offered on the Disney Destiny, Treasure, Wish, Fantasy, Dream, Magic and Wonder. They sail from November 9 to December 28, 2026 out of Port Canaveral, Fort Lauderdale, San Diego and Galveston. View the 2026 itineraries and see which cruise is best for you.

Small World Vacations’ agents have sailed on over 600 Disney cruises including Very Merrytime itineraries. Below, our experienced agents share tips that will make your Disney cruise even merrier!

From Agent Wendy: I always suggest guests pack some holiday attire for pictures in front of the tree and/or with Disney Characters. These photos make great Christmas cards.

From Agent Cheryl: Many families bring matching Christmas pajamas on Very Merrytime sailings, which make for fun photos and add to the holiday spirit.

From Agent Minnie: For Formal Night on the longer sailings, some guests dress in fancy Christmas themed outfits. This is the perfect night for a special family photo.

From Agent Marion: Did you know you can get a cute boxwood “tree” for your room? You can order them online by going to DisneyCruise.com > Already Booked > Onboard Gifts and search for your sailing. They are popular and do sell out — so don’t wait!

From Agent Lisa: A variety of holiday offerings can be pre-purchased in the “Onboard Gifts” area of your account. Order the “Celebrate the Season” package and your stateroom host will decorate your stateroom before you arrive. The package typically includes a cozy holiday blanket, a double-sided pillow with a hidden pocket for stashing holiday surprises, a Goofy stocking to hang and fill with goodies, a set of 2 hanging Disney wreath decorations and a playful Pluto shoulder plush. Availability and items are subject to change.

From Agent Tanya: Not only will you see holiday decorations throughout the ship, but guests bring their own door decorations. It’s fun to stroll the hallways to see them.

From Agent Carly: Don’t miss Mickey and Minnie’s Holiday Party, a Christmas deck party held one evening of the sailing (check your Navigator for date and time). This festive show will have your family dancing along with special performances and the grand finale – a flurry of “snow” on deck!

From Agent Deanna: One of the most festive events on a Very MerryTime Sailing is the Tree Lighting Ceremony that takes place select nights. Be sure to check the Navigator app for exact dates and times and get there early for a good spot.

From Agent Tanya: Keep an eye out for pop-up activities (that may not be listed on the Navigator) such as roaming carolers and complimentary hot cocoa and holiday cookies served in the atrium.

From Agent Michelle: Santa often makes an appearance during Very Merrytime sailings; in years past, Mrs. Claus even joined the cruise to host story time. Grab a hot cocoa from the pool deck for an extra festive story time treat.

From Agent Deanna: Be sure to purchase any holiday themed merchandise you like as soon as possible. Some items will sell out quickly and the ship doesn’t restock until the next sailing.

From Agent Michelle: Disney’s private island destinations join the fun with seasonal décor and sounds of the holidays, with a tropical twist. There are great holiday photo spots here, especially on the way back to the ship when it tends to be less crowded.

From Agent Marion: Our first cruise ever was a Very Merrytime sailing and I have to admit, it’s still my favorite. Everyone is in such a festive mood, it turns an already excellent cruise into the best time ever!
